Cork Flooring

I've been thinking about getting cork flooring in my new house. I am, as of yet, undecided.

I found a website called iFloor.com and it had a link so that I could find out more about cork flooring. I learned that cork flooring is an environmentally friendly choice that is also durable, comfortable and beautiful. The cork tree is the only one whose bark can regenerate itself after harvest. The regeneration happens without damaging the tree or the environment. Cork flooring is made from this bark and is a very sustainable choice.

The cork tree is a variety of the oak and the bark grows back quickly enough to be harvested every six years. The cork tree is never killed or cut down and can produce bark for centuries. Very few of the harvested materials from the cork tree go to waste.

I found out that cork has been used for centuries because of its beauty and durability. Those are the main reasons that cork flooring is an excellent choice for both residential and commercial applications. Another option for cork flooring is for it to be used as a sound reducer below another flooring option.

Cork is great for using under laminate flooring as well. I was actually to find in my search for cork flooring the fact that there are many estates in Europe that have had cork flooring in active use for generations. I found that Cork flooring is a non-slip surface that's highly resistant to liquid penetration.

These qualities make it perfect for both my new kitchen and bathroom floors. I may even decide to use it in my high profile dining and living rooms.

I did not know that my flooring choice, cork flooring in particular, had anything to do with my family's health. It is perfect for people with any allergies. I'm glad I researched cork flooring, the choice is clear for my family. I will be installing cork flooring throughout our new home.
